V.L. / Round 2
Round 2 of the Victorian League was played at the home ground of the 2 Mordialloc teams. The games played were fast and exciting with 2 of the 3 games being very close.
Dandenong wins after exciting comeback
The first game between Lisport and Dandenong was a thriller with the game in the balance until the last minutes of the match. Lisport looked strong earlier with a 2 goal lead, however the Dandenong team continued to grind out the game, making it a great match to watch. In the end Dandenong pulled back the gap and moved ahead with a great win, a great game and match winning goal by Nick Stringer. The final score was 3 to Lisport and 4 goals to Dandenong.
Mordialloc Juniors showing good progress
The second game was between Melbourne and Mordialloc 2. As expected the Melbourne team went in as favourites and the results tells the story. A win 15-0 to the Melbourne team. Kelly Belcher coach of the Mordialloc 2 team has the young players working well and it is clear to see the improvement that this team is making. 5 goals to Stephen Hoey and 4 goals to Jordi Poblet.
Mordialloc 1 wins and jumps to 2nd in the ladder
Game 3 was another great game between Warrnambool and Mordialloc 1. Both teams wanted the win and the pace was electric from the beginning. Both teams had earlier chances to take the lead however it was after a hard fought out match Mordialloc finished the game on top with a 4-2 victory over Warrnambool. Jason Shah and Kelly Belcher took the honours with 2 important goals each for the Mordialloc team.
